U.S. Open Spotlight: Top-Earning Trio

Three of golf’s all-time biggest earners tee off from No. 1 at Torrey Pines South on Thursday to kick off their U.S. Opens.

Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, and Justin Rose have only seven majors among them but have netted a combined $183,611,641 during their careers. They are ranked third, sixth, and eighth, respectively, on the all-time money list.

Majors make legacies, and yet the trio has an estimated net worth totaling $240 million (McIlroy $150M, Johnson $50M, Rose $40M).

Johnson, McIlroy, and Rose have a combined 77 PGA Tour victories to go with their majors. McIlroy has 4 (2011 U.S. Open, 2012 and ’14 PGA Championship, 2014 Open), Johnson 2 (2016 U.S. Open and 2020 Masters), and Rose 1 (2013 U.S. Open).

Johnson, the world’s top-ranked player, has +1,500 odds to win, while McIlroy stands at +2,100, and Rose is at +6,600.

Incidentally, the group teeing off just ahead of the trio have the second-most career earnings in the field — and only four majors among them. Adam Scott (No. 7 all-time), Sergio Garcia (9), and Bubba Watson (13) have combined to earn $156,145,114.

Johnson, McIlroy, and Rose tee off at 4:36 p.m. ET.
